The
Imperatives of Partnership
What does it take
to partner effectively in ministry? What can ministry to leaders do
to create the relationships needed to share the love of Christ in
today’s increasingly hostile environments? To have productive
partnerships, we must have vision, relationship, and results.
-
Vision
–by vision I mean a compelling view of the future – a picture of
what the partnership can achieve.
-
Relationship
–by relationship I mean the way partners feel toward one another
–Jenny one expressions of respect, concern, and trust.
-
Results –by results I mean the things
partners get done together –the outcomes of joint effort.[1]
Vision
-
A shared
vision –What has got invited us to do together?
-
Compatibility –What binds us together? What could tear us
apart?
-
Ground rules
–How do we work together
Relationship
-
Alliance
champions – Who is responsible to make it work?
-
Intercultural understanding – What cultural differences may
help or hinder the relationship?
-
Mutual trust
– What gives us confidence in each other?
Results
-
Meaningful
results – What difference will it really make in the work of
the gospel?
-
Documentation – How do we keep track of agreements,
contributions, and outcomes?
-
Learning and change – How do we handle
changes, opportunities, and disappointments?[2]

Rom. 12:4-5 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
